The castle of Capdepera is a fortress with an impressive walled enclosure that rises above the whole village. This castle was built in the 14th century as a defensive fortress to prevent the attack of Saracen pirates. For many centuries, the entire village was protected inside the castle. Later on, the village was built and expanded outside the enclosure.
